Barista and Social Media Assistant
The Barista will undertake Mobile Bar Operations & Marketing Assistance. This position supports the setup, operation, and coordination of the Grey & Dobbin Rolling Bar as a cafe pop-up at campgrounds, weddings, festivals, community gatherings, corporate events, and nonprofit functions. The employee will ensure friendly service, compliance with provincial regulations, and smooth event execution.
Primary Responsibilities
- Mobile Setup, Operation & Logistics
- Open and close the trailer each shift, following operational checklists for safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation of the trailer throughout the day.
- Manage point-of-sale transactions, handle payment, and ensure accurate cash-out procedures.
- Assist in menu display, signage setup, and promotional presentation to attract customers.
- Assist with restocking, inventory management, and maintaining equipment.
- Beverage Preparation & Barista Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso-based beverages, specialty drinks, and other non-alcoholic offerings in a fast-paced mobile environment and serve along with fresh baked goods.
- Operate machines, and related barista equipment safely and accurately.
- Maintain quality standards for beverage preparation, presentation, and customer service.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling regulations.
- Customer Service & Community Engagement
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and local area.
- Represent Grey & Dobbin Rolling Bar professionally at community events, markets, and public gatherings.
- Support event hosts and collaborate with vendors when working partnered locations.
- Social Media & Promotions
- Assist in posting updates about the trailer’s location, hours, special beverages, and events on social media platforms.
- Capture photos or simple video clips to highlight daily operations and community engagement.
- Help build the brand’s online presence by promoting locations, pop-ups, and event participation.
- Safety, Compliance & Professional Conduct
- Follow all safety procedures for mobile equipment, food handling, and public interaction.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste, recycling, and consumables.
- Have current Food Safety training or be willing to take the course.
- Other information:
- Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
- Will need own transportation to areas such as Stanhope and Cavendish.
- Starting wage $18/hour
